Hey all...don't ask me, just in the mood to share some history stuff and perhaps a few things on mythology...it is sort of an area that I enjoy reading about and on, so don't mind me here....nothing much nor really all that important, just finally have some time to spend on the computer, which lately just has not seemed to be that often, tonight has been the first time during the week that I have gotten off work before 10pm.....so today was only a 9 hour day instead of ten....anyways, enough whining here.... ----------------------------------------------------------------- Olympic History - The first Olympic Games were held in 776 B.C. (traditional date) and the last in A.D. 393, when the Christian Byzantine Emperor Theodosius I abolished them because they were a remnant of the pagan religions. - The Ancient Greek Olympics were held every 4 years. This 4-year period was known as an "Olympiad" and was used as a reference point for dating events.

Mythological Origins of the Ancient Olympic Games One Olympic origins story is connected with the tragedy-ridden House of Atreus. Pelops won the hand of his bride, Hippodamia, by competing in a chariot race against her father, King Oinomaos of Pisa, in Elis. Pelops conspired to win the race by replacing the king's chariot's lynchpins with ones made of wax. These melted on the course, throwing the king from his chariot and killing him. After Pelops married Hippodamia, he commemorated his victory with the Olympic Games.
The ancient Olympics were religious festivals and not like today's modern sporting events.

Just a littel something I attempted to put together to wish everyone a Happy Valentine Day! Hope you like it!
Everything seemed to make sense The pieces all fitting in place but now, sitting here on the fence, lost in a different space, The questions ring loud, I'm not so sure. All pretense dropped away, wondering if I am just a stray Trapped between here and yesterday, Trying to make sense of it all, When perhaps no sense exist. Just another day, another moment Standing here in the crowd, Lost within a moment, Knowing no more today then yesterday, It all the same, all the same.

The steady drum of the rain Falling like a waterful Smoothing a tired soul, Luring me off to sleep, to dream of better days, Of days long lost, Frozen in time.
Tired of the same beating drum the same old route, same old shoe, the familiar rut I'm in, Seeking a littel fun, a little action, wanting something different, something new, But all I have Is the steady drum of rain.
listening to its steady rhythm, Its melody, its mafical tune, the tears of the gods, of the spirits, of life, of all that nature entails, but here I am listening, an outsider peering in, stealing a moment in time, to feel its cold crops upon my face.
My tears mingle with the rain, washing down my pale cheeks, unseen, unviewed but know by me, known by me as the day becomes night, and times flies bye, escaping, fleeing, disappearing into the vast nothingness and all I hear is the steady beat of the rain.
